MOR Little Luxuries
Snow Gardenia
Next time you come across a Gardenia, pick it. Before you smell it, because that will be your first inclination, touch its petals. Rub them between forefinger and thumb. When you’ve finished, take a good look at the flower. At the way the petals seem to swirl out in a gentle fan of white that seemingly has no beginning and no end. You see, a Gardenia actually looks and feels as creamy as it smells and it is that rich, seductive scent for which it is most famous.
Capturing Gardenia – truly capturing it, not just creating a version of it – is tricky. Because the real thing smells so good, I’m always wary of products that feature the Gardenia’s scent. Too often they fall short. They don’t have the necessary weight, the dreaminess, the fullness.
Mor’s Snow Gardenia comes close. Very close. The brightness of Gardenia is there in abundance, helped along by Angelica, Juniper Berry and Ylang Ylang. By using Vanilla and Sandalwood in the base, the fragrance is given its necessary warmth, avoiding the fate of being too light and stringent.
Now infuse a body butter, a soap, a hand cream, a lip gloss and a perfume oil with this delightful scent and you have Mor’s Little Luxuries. The little guys are absolute treats. Perfect handbag size – I carry my perfume oil around with me all the time not only for touch ups, but for a midday mood boost – they’re also ideal for travel. The body butter is incredibly rich (shea butter, cocoa butter and avocado oil) and easily absorbed, the hand cream silky smooth and the lip nectar clear, thick and glossy.
And oh my goodness, are they beautifully packaged or what. The soapette has its own little tin, the body butter pot comes in a little milk carton esque box, the Lip Nectar in an embossed cardboard prism. And they all come tied up with a pretty silver bow.
The perfect gift – for yourself.
