This is a range for true nature lovers, with each product containing a veritable garden of ingredients. The name says it all – the company focuses on what is Grown, not made. Geranium and peppermint, parsley seed and ginseng, the ingredients speak to a simple, old fashioned idea of skin care. As, for that matter, does the packaging, based on bottles sold in pharmacies at the turn of the century. The plastic is recycled, the amber colour of the bottles designed to protect the product contained inside and the aluminum used is hardened and non-leeching. To top it all off, everything used by Grown is made (or grown) in Australia, which means they don’t contribute to pollution by shipping materials in.
I feel virtuous simply looking at the cleanser currently sitting on my desk.
So, to the products;
Peppermint, Parsley Seed and Jojoba Micro Bead Facial Exfoliant
Simultaneously refreshing and creamy, this is a good texture for around thrice-weekly usage. One thing I find with thicker exfoliants is sometimes they don’t actually do a good enough job of exfoliating; they’re too busy being nourishing. This one contains a good amount of beads with the added vigour of pink grapefruit and peppermint, to keep things fresh.
Geranium Leaf, Bergamot and Rosebud Facial Cleanser
Quite a lovely, gentle, smooth little number. It’s incredibly calming for a botanical cleanser (I have had inflammatory run-ins) I suspect due to the rose and chamomile. It is fine for use on sensitive skin and makes for a satisfying cleanse.
Camellia and Geranium Blossom Facial Moisturiser
A surprisingly thick moisturiser that, once absorbed, doesn’t leave a shine. There’s no residue either, which is a plus, particularly with such a thick moisturiser, and it contains my favourite ingredient, rose-hip oil, the wunderkind of the natural skincare world. This is a good one for dry skin or skin that needs an extra boost during the cooler weather.
