Not all fake tans are created equal.
Forget the Game of Thrones memes. Winter is well and truly here. It’s time for electric blankets, hot chocolate and fuzzy bed socks.
Or, more realistically, it’s time for dry lips, unshaved legs and dull, pale skin.
And I get it. I know what winter looks like. If you weren’t wearing roller neck jumpers to protect you from the freezing cold, you’d be wearing them to hide your borderline translucent arms. I know. It happens to the best of us.
Which is why I’m so excited about Glow by Beca— the new, not-like-all-the-others self-tanning foam that’s answering all your winter skin needs.
After recognising a gap in the self-tan market, Sydney beauty therapist Rebecca Colalillo decided to take her twelve years of experience in the beauty industry and create her own self-tanning product that’s officially raising the bar for DIY tanning.
The tan— a decadent chocolate ash-based formula that’s Australian-made and a 100% eco-certified natural DHA— is just what dull winter skin ordered.
The odourless, non-sticky and fast-drying solution means you can fake a gorgeous, subtle, glowing tan without the usual hassle. No stained clothes, no weird smells and no awkward waiting for your limbs to dry. What’s more, Glow by Becca is rich in body-loving vitamins, and infused with Shea Butter and Macadamia and Rosehip Oils, meaning your skin gets some much needed hydration and TLC, on top of that post-Bahamas glow. Other self-tans— it’s time to pick up your game.
In an attempt to find out a little more about this fake tan prodigy, I quizzed its founder, Rebecca, with some vital, tan-related questions. The verdict? Heck, I was sold after ‘chocolate’.
Does Glow By Beca work the same way other fake tans do? If not, how does it work?
Glow By Beca tanning mousse is applied with our flawless application mitts.
It makes the whole experience and application so easy and quick.
What makes Glow By Beca different?
Glow By Beca is a 1-4 hour tan designed to give you an intense, even and natural-looking tan, while increasing the skins hydration. It is a chocolate ash-based tan with a chocolate finish like no other tan on the market, with a fast-acting formula for quicker, deeper and darker results. I take pride in delivering a tan product that’s eco-certified and enriched with naturally derived ingredients.
How should Glow By Beca best be applied?
Glow By Beca’s Chocolate Tanning mousse has been a hit! It’s best applied onto clean exfoliated skin, using the flawless Glow By Becca application mitts. Pump 2-3 pumps of the mousse and apply in circular motions, working around the elbows and knees and using the residue on your mitt for your hands and feet.
How long should the tan last?
This all depends on the length of time you leave your tan on. I personally like to apply one coat only and go out or sleep in it, and shower in the morning. This will last up to 5 days with a deep chocolate colour. However, you can leave it for 2 hours and last 3 days. It’s really a personal preference.
Can Glow By Beca be used on all skin types?
Yes. However for extremely sensitive skin, I recommend a patch test 24 hours before applying all over your body.
Are there several different shades or just one?
The best bit is there is only one shade— it works with your skin and the length of time left on you to develop, so you have control of the depth of the tan.
