With her brown hair and feline eyes, Australian born Georgia Stensness comes from the small city of Brisbane. Starting out at the ripe age of 18, the now 21-year-old Chic signed model switches it up between fashion capitals of Milan, London or Paris before making it home to her loved-up man.
Catch the former America’s Next Top Model contestant listening to electro and house beats, drawing or sketching away, or just chilling out in Brisbane’s art galleries. Her down to earth persona has fronted local and international campaigns around the globe…and she’s only 21.
Previous architecture student, now studying urban planning at QUT, Georgia gives us some insight into the world of design she loves.
You were studying architecture previously, what design aesthetics are you loving?
I’m a big fan of the Bauhaus movement. The direction was very natural and timeless…just you know, that idea of removing unnecessary details that you see a lot today and really focusing on form with function basically – I love it. Also, I love industrial things with a bit of wear and tear…wrought iron, rust, metal and reclaimed wood – you know that kind of thing. Scandinavian design is beautiful too! Haha, I love all three, Bauhaus, Industrial and Scandinavian styles.
How were you discovered or how’d you get into modelling?
I entered into the Girlfriend competition when I was 18 and did well so from there I approached Dallys Models and signed with them.
Proudest modelling moment ?
The proudest moment would be travelling to Paris for America’s Next Top Model, signing contracts for Chic in Sydney and contracts for London and Milan. Fingers crossed…hopefully I will be going to Milan sometime this year for work. Apparently the gelato and pizza there is amazing!
What would you be doing if you weren’t modelling?
Well apart from modelling, I am returning to university this year to study Urban Planning. So…I would be at university!
What do you do for fun?
I love to see friends, go out to clubs and bars, draw, go to markets and art galleries.
What’s your first thought when you look in the mirror?
Someone arty maybe?
Are you in love?
I am definitely in love. I’ve been with my boyfriend for three years, and it couldn’t get any better! Very smitten by him!
What would be your perfect date?
My ideal date would be dinner and drinks at a romantic funky restaurant chosen by my boyfriend, followed by maybe movies and dessert or a lovely bunch of flowers.
What’s the last song you played on your iPod?
‘First of the Year’ – Skrillex
What was the last text you sent?
My last text I sent was to one of my cousins regarding a book I wanted to read.
What’s your secret obsession?
Since I have a sweet tooth I love ordering protein bars online…does that count?
Do you like scary films?
I love scary films and can’t understand why some people dislike them. I can only see believable ones though…corny ones are just funny, not scary!
What was the last dream you had?
I know I had a dream last night but after being awake for five seconds, I completely forget the story line.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
In five years time I see myself with a degree, living with my amazing boyfriend while I continue modelling and working full time, unless modelling turns into a full time career.
What’s something interesting about you ?
I actually have a twin brother who is two minutes younger.
Describe yourself in three words?
This one was hard… optimistic, creative and passionate.
