While the rest of Melbourne geared up for a second round of footy final fever, a handful of ladies were up early primping and preening with ghd’s flying and pink polish flowing. Welcome to the world of the Melbourne Beauty Blogger.
Far from the glittering lights of the Sydney scene, these gals spend long hours reviewing the best of the beauty biz. No longer confined to the pages of glossy magazines, these Aussie cosmetic addicts are taking to the web to discuss, review and recommend their favourite beauty buys. They test, they trial, they type – and all for the love of beauty.
So on a sunny Saturday afternoon twenty ladies gathered at the gorgeous Oxgyen Skin Centre at Docklands to meet, snack and do what we do best – chat about beauty. The event was organised by the fabulous Valerie Chan of Ponikuta, and boy oh boy was it a goodie. We can’t thank you enough Valerie.
The Onya-ettes: Sandi, Holly and Beth
The Onya-ettes were out in full force. Alongside our Editor in Chief, Sandi, I represented the Onya beauty department, while our intern Holly was there on behalf of her fabulous blog, ‘Am I There Yet?’. We got to meet and mingle with the Melbourne beauty brigade that adds colour to our wonderful, supportive online community.
With tasty treats supplied by EARL Canteen and fabulous treatments courtesy of the lovely Oxygen ladies, we had a completely luxurious afternoon. And though the Australian Queen of Beauty Blogging, Ms Zoë Foster was unable to address her loyal subjects this year, our fearless leader Sandi stepped up to talk to the ladies about conquering the internet playground we call home.
And if we weren’t spoilt enough, as we left Valerie loaded us up with six goodie bags! Six! Filled to the brim with amazing products – including some from our favourite Aussie brands ModelCo, Absolutely Gorgeous, MOR and Kora to name a few.
It was a truly fabulous day and we at Onya are proud to both be a part of and support the web revolution that is unfolding before us.
