The lash industry isn’t a super sustainable one, so we were very happy to stumble across Perth brand HAVA Beauty Co!
If you are a lash extensionist or a makeup artist, you will know how plastic-riddled the industry is. This is certainly a brand worth noting. Not only are their lashes becoming renowned for innovation and quality, HAVA is pretty much wrapped up in sustainability. LITERALLY.
A first for the industry, their (very pretty) lash trays are made primarily of paper and cardboard, materials that can be recycled or composted. Finally! No more guilt throwing all those plastic trays into landfill where they take hundreds of years to break down. The revolution is here!
“Being a qualified lash extensionist and former makeup artist myself, I know first-hand the amount of plastic waste this industry generates. I wanted to create a range of lashes that I love and use on my clients, but with an eco-friendly twist. No one else has done it so I thought, ‘why not me!?’ said the owner and founder, Natasha Broere.
If you are looking to keep your beauty footprint down, this pretty pink packaging is a game changer.
With a staggering 67 million tonnes of plastic dumped into landfill every year in Australia, being able to recycle your lash packaging is a welcome relief. Sustainable too! Manufacturing recycled paper can use up to 90% less water and 50% less energy. The saying ‘Beauty Doesn’t Have to Cost the Earth’, has never been more relevant.
“Bringing an eco-friendly alternative to the industry is nerve-wracking. The phrase ‘eco packaging’ tends to bring to mind ugly brown paper packaging, so you just don’t know what kind of response you will get. Making changes from traditional plastic comes with a significant financial risk, but has been worth every bit of it.”
The brand has seen a huge jump in sales of over 200% since launching the recyclable range and is gaining plenty of positive attention. HAVA has become a well- established brand, particularly among makeup artists, and whose lashes are used by some of the biggest names in beauty.
With the recent addition of lash extension products, all housed in iconic pink recyclable trays, the industry is once again getting a shake up. HAVA’s eco boxes will add a touch of ethical glam to your studio. It’s a big green thumbs up from us.
