We’ve all sat there for hours watching these incredible beauty bloggers applying their make up in intricate and imaginative ways and thought to ourselves – “I can do that”. However, when it comes to it, it doesn’t always work out right, does it? No matter how hard you try to replicate their tutorial, it never looks right. There are some simple explanations for this! Take a look at these tips on how to get the perfect finish on your make up – every time.
Your skincare routine isn’t right for your skin type
Beauty bloggers have likely been in the industry for years and picked up thousands of tricks on not only how to apply make up, but how to take care of their skin in the long run so when they do apply make up, it looks flawless. There are many different types of skin and to get that flawless look, you need to have a skincare routine that’s tailored to your skin type. Daily cleansing (see here for face cleansing), moisturising in the day and throughout the night is the first step in proper skincare. If you have problematic skin, it might be worth chatting to your GP to see how you can improve this.
Practise, practise, and more practise
It may feel like you’ve spent ages applying your make up, but to become an artisan at anything you need to put the practise in – and so have these beauty bloggers! Ever noticed they cut their videos? It’s probably because they didn’t get it quite how they wanted it! Spend time practising techniques and you’ll soon notice an improvement with the end result.
The products you’re using
We don’t all have cash that we can squander on expensive make up and that’s totally understandable. However, going for the cheapest products will also give results that may be less than satisfactory. The reason some make up is more expensive is because of the quality it produces. We’re not saying you have to spend hundreds to get the perfect look, just consider spending a little more for the desired finish you’re after.
Your lifestyle
You may have your skincare routine down by using the right products for your skin type but sometimes, the way your skin appears is down to your lifestyle. If you eat lots of food that’s high in saturated fat, your skin may appear more oily than normal. If you enjoy a glass or two of wine most nights this could dry your skin out. Find the balance and make changes if needed.
Lighting changes so much
Finally, it’s important to remember that professional make up lighting changes the way make up appears endlessly. You may also want to consider ruthless editing that may have gone into these videos that could change the way viewers see the end result. While we’re not saying beauty bloggers aren’t incredible, it’s important to remember those factors. Rest assured, your make up looks incredible and if it makes you feel nice, then rock it!
