While this question may seem a bit premature at this point, it is never too early to speculate as to who will win the biggest trophy in baseball. There are also a number of teams already putting themselves in prime positions.
These are the teams that are either leading their leagues, or are proving to be very dangerous opponents. While there is still a lot of the season left to play with many opportunities to bet on your favorite team, these are the teams that look like they can win the World Series.
Houston Astros
Love them or hate them, the Astros have been playing incredibly well so far this season. Currently sitting at the top of the AL West league, they are 48-30, one of the best records across all 30 teams.
They have an incredibly strong team that has a lot of depth, and they are just as formidable out in the field as when they have a bat in hand. Unless they get hit with a massive run of bad luck, they are going to be hard to beat.
San Francisco Giants
Another team that has been absolutely dominating the National League are the Giants. Currently sitting on a record of 50-27, 8-2 in their last ten games, and with a record of 26-11 at home, and 24-16 away, they are looking unbeatable.
A team that many said would fall and fail due to their schedule, they are now tied with the Toronto Blue Jays for most homeruns so far this season, with 114. They are also ranked 6th overall for most runs so far this season.
San Diego Padres
The Padres may have slipped to third in NL West, sitting with a record of 47-33, they have a great record of 30-15 at home, but they have struggled away, and now have an away record of 17-18.
A team that has Fernando Tatis Jr. in it can never be written off though. He is currently tied with Shohei Ohtani in second place for most home runs on 25. Don’t get it wrong, if and when the Padres need runs to win, Tatis will be there to make it happen.
Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers are another team that have been in sublime form. Walker Buehler, Clayton Kershaw and the rest of the team have been putting in work, getting the Dodgers to second in NL West, with a record of 47-31.
The National League is proving itself to be incredibly strong, with the Dodgers competing with teams such as the Brewers, Cubs, Mets and the Giants, all of who can go all the way to the World Series, and all of them have a serious chance of winning it.
Boston Red Sox
A team that was regarded as on the fringe of greatest before the season started, the Sox have been dominating the AL East, currently sitting at 47-31, as well as 24-14 away record, and a 23-17 home record.
While there is clear room for improvement, they look like a team that is going from strength to strength. Xander Bogaerts is proving to be a huge asset, Alex Verdugo, Bobby Dalbec and Rafael Dvers are all joining the party too.
Tampa Bay Rays
A surprise package is the Tampa Bay Rays. Their past 10 games haven’t been great though, sitting with a record of 4-6, which does include 6 losses in a row. However, their overall record is 47-32 right now, putting them second in the AL East behind the Sox.
The big news out of the Rays is that Wander Franco has been called up to the Majors. He hasn’t had the best start, but he is still getting into the swing of things, and has more than enough time to really turn things around and show that he is the real deal.
Oakland A’s
The Oakland A’s haven’t had the best run the last 10 games. They are sitting at 4-6, however, sitting second behind the Astro’s has put them in a sort of dark horse position. They have a home record of 25-18 and an away record of 22-15.
They might struggle in the playoffs if they get to tha point, but right now, the A’s are playing well, they look solid, the team is looking strong, and as mentioned already, they have the ability to surprise a few people.
Atlanta Braves
The Braves don’t have a great record right now. They are sitting on a 37-40 overall record, 20-20 at home, 17-20 on the road. However, they are on this list purely due to the players they have in their ranks.
Ronald Acuna Jr, Freddie Freeman, Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley and many more are all big names in the National League, if they find a way to turn their fortunes around, there is no reason why the Braves can’t find themselves with a chance at the World Series.
The race to the World Series is already heating up, and while there are some teams that are looking stronger and stronger every day, there are a few that can shake the status quo. We just have to wait and see who has the strength to survive.
