What is Neograft Hair Transplant Surgery and How Does It Work?

Are you starting to lose your hair? Hair loss at any age can affect your self-esteem and appearance. Hair transplant surgery is a great option to help you boost your confidence from lost hair. An experienced surgeon can provide you with a natural-looking hairline through this minimally invasive procedure that uses your own hair. In just a few months, your implanted hair can start to grow and cover your balding areas.

Neograft hair transplant surgery is one of the most modern methods for battling hair loss. It’s a minimally invasive procedure that transplants hair follicles from the back of your scalp to balding areas. This procedure won’t stop your hair loss, but the newly transplanted hair will continue to grow permanently. Below is a breakdown of how it all works, and it’s all very simple.

How it works: Simply, the procedure takes hair from the back of your head and places it elsewhere on your head. This process uses the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method, which is different from conventional strip harvesting. A typical procedure can be broken up into five steps:

  1. The surgeon will start by selecting and grouping the donor’s hair. In most cases, it’s your own hair. Using the FUE, they will extract hair follicles in small groupings from the back of your head where your hair resists testosterone. Testosterone is known to affect hair growth and loss. It’s important during this stage to extract grafts with the same consistency and length.
  2. Then, the surgeon will prep the sites and grafts for placement. Usually, a topical anesthetic is used to prevent you from feeling any pain.
  3. This step is very important because the surgeon will place the grafts for your desired orientation and angle to ensure you get the best results. This will directly affect how your new hairline is shaped.
  4. Recovery: The procedure only takes a few hours, and recovery takes about two weeks. During this time, your head will scab. The scabs will be very visible for the first two weeks until they fall off. By then, you should be ok to return to normal activities.
  5. After about 2-3, the newly implanted hair will shed away. This is supposed to happen and shouldn’t cause concern. After this phase, your new hair will slowly start to grow over the next few months.

Here are some things to consider before pursuing a hair transplant:

Benefits: In most cases, Neograft has a shorter recovery time than most hair transplants. The quick recovery time can be attributed to it being less invasive. Since your follicles are picked in small amounts, it’s not necessary to staple or stitch the area.

Concerns: The main problem that comes with Neograft is cost. The cost of a neograft transplant in NJ is generally higher than other types of hair transplants and ranges from $9,000 to $13,000. In addition to this, FUE techniques are sometimes not as effective as traditional hair transplants.

Candidates: Most people that are currently undergoing thinning or balding hair can be eligible for this procedure. Both men and women can benefit from neograft as long as they have enough hair to transplant to their balding areas.

In addition, this procedure is excellent for people with busy schedules. Since the procedure can be completed in just a few hours, you can get back to your regular routine as soon as you’re comfortable.

Neografting is a new and effective procedure for hair loss. It works, but it can be costly depending on how much you need done. Ultimately, it is a very effective way to regain your confidence and gain a natural-looking hairline.
