What things would you never walk out of the door without? Typically it goes keys, wallet, phone but, how often is that actually all you have in your bag? Personally, our bags tend to resemble that scene in Mary Poppins, seemingly interminable depths capable of holding pot plants, lamps, mirrors, bewitched tap measures.
With a bag like that, we’d never be caught unprepared but, sadly, none of us are lucky enough to have a bag with endless capacities. So what seven things should we prioritise having in our bags, seven days a week?
Credit Card
The need for a credit card is blatantly obvious. There’s really no need to sell anyone on their benefits, you’ve probably already got a credit card sitting in your wallet but, is that card the right one? Few of us a clear idea about why we’ve chosen our specific credit card and whether that card is the best choice to suit your needs. All the types of credit cards on the market have specific benefits and features: low-rate cards, balance transfer cards, low annual fee cards, cards linked to rewards or frequent flyer schemes. You’ll need to do some research to find out which credit card option matches your current needs, you can read more about different types of credit cards here.
Keys
This one is so obvious it doesn’t even merit an explanation. Always make sure you’ve got your keys with you so you don’t risk infuriating your housemates by ringing the bell at all hours of the night.
Hand Sanitiser
In this day and age, hand sanitiser is a hotly contested commodity, with the importance of protecting ourselves and our loved ones from viral infections at the forefront of all our minds we’re all becoming more conscious of hygiene. When you’re out and about throughout the day, touching traffic lights, bus seats, brushing past people you’re bound to pick up some germs. So if you can manage to get your hands on them then some small bottles of hand sanitiser make the perfect addition to any bag.
Phone
In 2020, our phones are practically extensions of our persons. We’re rarely without them. They provide us with ways to constantly say in touch with our friends, families, check our social media, manage transportation, banking, consult a map, check out the reviews of a restaurant – all of these capabilities from right inside our own pockets. Whether or not our dependence on our phone is a good idea is up for debate but, the reality is that we’re very dependent on our phones so if you’re going on a long night out you should also pack yourself a portable charger – so you’ll never have to be without it for long!
Reusable Bags
With supermarkets now no longer providing plastic bags we’ve all started stocking up on the reusable ones. They’re better for the environment and with designs such as these, they can be a great fashion statement.
Mini Umbrellas
Sometimes in Australia, we experience four seasons in one day. There’s nothing worse than dressing for a summer day and being caught in a rainstorm. So if your bag is big enough a small, lightweight umbrella can be a literal godsend to save you from getting drenched in a sudden downpour. Here are some of the best lightweight travel umbrellas to have in your bag!
Your Face Essentials
We’ve never met but we’re prepared to say that you’ve got a lovely face. If you’re going to be out all day then you might need to bring a few things to take care of it throughout the day. Just the essentials! Sunscreen, moisturiser, lip balm and perhaps some make-up if you’d like. The most important element here is sunscreen because the harsh Australian sun can be detrimental to your skin and heighten your risk of skin cancer. Another thing to consider is a small tube of hand cream because with the amount of hand sanitiser we’ve been using of late our hands can become incredibly dry and cracked – so it’s important to moisturise.
