But as people began to think about ways in which they could enjoy their time off of work, they started to discover the benefits of going RVing!
RVs are excellent for getting outside, but still retaining a lot of the comforts of home. Think about an RV kind of like a cabin that you can take with you wherever you go! Rapid City, SD
Rapid City is one of the largest cities in the state of South Dakota and has access to many amazing sites to visit! Mount Rushmore National Monument, Crazy Horse Memorial, and Wind Cave National Park are all great attractions to take in.
Something that makes Rapid City a great destination for RVing is that there are tons of RV parks nearby. You can reserve a spot for a week or two and get out and explore much of what Rapid City and the surrounding Black Hills has to offer. Grand Junction, CO
If you enjoy fine wines, you’ll definitely want to stop in Grand Junction, CO! Grand Junction is home to Colorado’s wine country and is a must visit area for any wine connoisseur. Take in a glass of wine from one of the Grand Valley’s many wineries as you gaze up at the majesty of Mount Garfield and the Grand Mesa!
When you’re done with your wine, be sure to go check out the Colorado River for some fun river action! Stand up paddle boards are easily rentable from several different companies in the area. Take a lazy float down the Colorado and then end your day in nearby Fruita. Be sure to stop by Hot Tomato as they have some of the best pizza in Colorado!
Buena Vista, CO
Located high in the Rocky Mountains, Buena Vista surely lives up to its name! On the west side of town is a line of several 14ers (peaks that are 14,000’ in elevation or higher) known as the Collegiate Peaks. The Collegiate Peaks are all named for Ivy League Colleges like Harvard, Princeton, and Yale! They tower over the town of Buena Vista, which offers all who visit some good views!
If you want to try your hand at climbing one of these incredible peaks, be sure to go prepared! You don’t need much, to take with you on an attempt to summit one of the peaks, but at a minimum, be sure to bring:
- Water
- Food
- Extra Layers
- Fire starting material
- Survival knife
Bringing these items will ensure that you can safely endure a night on the trail if you end up getting lost or injured. Of all of those items, the survival knife is the most important! They can be used in so many different ways that you can’t afford not to bring one with you. Be sure that you understand what makes a good survival knife before shopping around for one, as there are many different kinds on the market!
Sedona, AZ
The desert southwest is full of beauty and mystery. A destination that captures both is Sedona, AZ! Sedona is home to some of the most beautiful red rock formations in the world. They rise up out of the earth and cast amazing shadows on the town below. Sunsets are absolutely enchanting here!
Once you have parked your RV, be sure to take a hike on one of the many trails throughout Sedona. Be sure to be on the lookout for the mysterious vortexes that Sedona is famous for. Stop by a shop in town to get a map of the vortexes to see if you can feel the energy that they produce!
Coeur d’Alene, ID
Last but certainly not least on the list of must visit places for RV campers is Coeur d’Alene, ID. Coeur d’Alene is home to the enormous and beautiful Lake Coeur d’Alene, which dominates the local scenery! Be sure to rent a boat to get out on the water and don’t forget the cooler full of ice-cold drinks!
When you’re done with your float, be sure to enjoy any one of the many awesome restaurants in downtown Coeur d’Alene. In fact, one of the best spots for ice cream is inside the hotel that sits right by the lake! Gooeys is a can’t miss spot for ice cream lovers as they make enormous ice cream sundaes that are the perfect treats to cap a fun day on the lake.

RVs are the perfect vehicles for visiting each one of these spectacular destinations. With so many things to see and do, they allow you to visit each area in comfort while also allowing you to save a bit of money on hotel and flight costs! The great thing about each of these destinations is that there are tons of RV resorts to choose from nearby.
