Simple Ways To Add More Colour To Your Kitchen

Neutral and minimal kitchen designs have been in style for the last few years and, while they do bring a sense of luxury and elegance to the space, home-owners are now beginning to crave some more colour. Adding a pop of colour to your kitchen can be a brilliant way to bring a bit of personality to it and change things up, without having to completely redo the whole interior. Here are some incredibly simple yet stylish ways to do just that!

Colourful appliances

Appliances are essential to every kitchen but not many people view them as an opportunity to elevate their interior design – quite the opposite, they are typically hidden away. However, if you are looking to upgrade some old appliances, consider getting a colourful matching set! Such items as refrigerators, kettles, toasters, food mixers and blenders can all be purchased in various colours. Imagine an all-white kitchen with some adorable blush pink appliances complementing it!

An accent wall

Playing around with an accent wall in your kitchen is not only a super easy way to bring some more colour to the room but also very affordable. An accent wall is essentially a single wall in a room that is different to the rest. Most commonly, that will be the first wall you see when walking into the room but you may choose one that makes the most sense in your kitchen. You can either paint it a different colour or put up a fun wallpaper. For example, if creams and browns are currently dominating your kitchen, a sage green or a navy blue accent wall would compliment it beautifully.

Table top decorations

For those who are not ready to commit to anything as large as the above suggestions, it is a great idea to experiment with table top decorations. This can include absolutely anything, such as bright place mats, colourful dishes, plants and flowers, eye-catching candles, a table runner or other unique decorative elements. Any of these items will be easy to replace but will still brighten up your kitchen and add a subtle bit of colour to it.

Textiles

The different textiles that exist in your kitchen are there for their functionality, however, once again – they can become a fun and simple way to liven up the interior design with pops of colour throughout it. Such things as tablecloths, dish towels, oven handles, tea towels, curtains and rugs may feel insignificant, but they contribute a great deal to the overall feel of your kitchen. Therefore, get some colourful textiles to bring a bit of personality to the space.

Colourful lighting

Lighting can have a big impact on the overall look and feel of your kitchen. Instead of sticking to the traditional neutral or white light fixtures, try installing colourful lighting. You can choose from under-cabinet LED lighting, colourful chandeliers, pendant lights or many other options. By doing so, you can create a warm and inviting atmosphere while also adding a playful touch to your kitchen.

Final word

In conclusion, you don’t need to spend a tonne of money or effort to add a pop of colour to your kitchen. The above ideas are all super simple but also very effective ways to update and brighten up your current living space. This will mean different things to each of us: some will go for bald colours, while others will prefer muted hues. The most important thing, however, is don’t be afraid to experiment with colour and try new things!
