Closets can feel like war zones. There are piles of dirty laundry left until the last minute, clean clothes ready to be hung (but often worn from the pile), and no organisation. Some men keep their closets locked and organised, so you can too!
No more ties in shoeboxes, belts on the floor, or shirts on one hanger. Change is needed. Your expensive clothes deserve respect.
Check out these de-cluttering tips to rearrange your wardrobe, make it last longer, and simplify getting ready:
Sort Clothes And Accessories
Before organising, you must know what you own. Sort through your clothes and accessories. Yes, empty your closet and start over. Ensure you have enough storage now. Add extra shelves, drawers, hangers and Clothes Rails.
Set aside a day or several days to do this because you should take your time. You must try on items and decide if you’ll use them again, then hang them on your clothes rails. Donate anything you haven’t worn in a year. It’s taking up closet space and you won’t wear it again. Like ill-fitting clothes. You shouldn’t keep too large or small items. If you lose or gain weight, you’ll probably want to buy new clothes anyway.
Donate unworn accessories after a year. The only exception is if you have holiday items but can’t go for a year because you’re saving.
String through your closet to see what needs updating or replacing. You may need new glasses or boots because your old ones are worn out.
Categorize And Colour Code
Try hanging casual and work clothes separately. Leave space between the two sections so they’re visible. You want to see your gym clothes, smart wear, and coats. If you don’t have much space, divide your clothes with dry cleaning bags or markers.
You could then sort by colour. Color-coordinated clothes make outfit selection easy. Groping your white, blue, and green shirts together will speed up your morning or evening routine.
Frontload Empty Hangers
Move empty hangers to the front of your closet. Don’t leave it in your clothes. You’ll find hangers more easily, and your closet will feel less cluttered and cramped. It will also help prevent clothes from piling up on the floor or chairs in the corner.
Using the same hangers can help your closet look more organised. Many of us have mismatched hangers from different stores. This makes your closet look messy. Consolidate them all onto the same hanger. You won’t be distracted by the mess and can focus on your clothes.
Your Accessories Need Organizing
Door, wardrobe rack, or wall-mounted accessory rack. A rack for your neckties and belts will keep them neat and in good condition. When stuffed or rolled, they lose shape and crack when worn.
Add Plenty Of Hooks
Hooks add storage space everywhere in your closet. Install them on a closet wall or in the back to hang scarves, hats, and other items. They add secret storage space and keep items off the floor or in a drawer.
Switch Your Bag
Organize your clothes bag to reduce the pile of dirty laundry. One for light, one for dark, and one for delicates or dry cleaning only. It will keep your laundry off the floor and make loading the washer easier.
