There are many things in your day to day life you get a say in.
Which restaurant to eat dinner at.
What movie to watch.
What to wear.
But what if all of those decisions were made for you?
If you didn’t want pizza for dinner, but you had to eat it anyway?
If you hated action films, but were forced to watch one?
If you liked wearing dresses, but were only allowed to wear pants?
The Australian election is a little bit the same. If you are not enrolled, you don’t get a say in the result and you may be forced to live with something you are unhappy with for the next four years. Much longer than the length of a meal, the runtime of a film, or a day in a pair of pants.
Every voice counts and whether you are on the left, the right, or still sitting in the middle to see which candidate manages to make less of a twit of themselves over the next four weeks of the election campaign, you need to be enrolled to have your say.
It only take a few minutes to ensure your details are up to date, that you are enrolled correctly and that your opinion will count to make a difference on September 7.
That’s a big chunk of the youth of today who don’t get to voice their opinions about our future. You don’t like your parents telling you what to do – so why would you let our politicians have the same kind of power?
