What inspired you to start Lisa Rush Skin Clinic?
The inspiration behind Lisa Rush Skin Clinic stemmed from my deep passion for skincare and a desire to help people feel confident in their own skin. Over the years, I noticed a gap in the market for a clinic that combined cutting-edge technology with a truly personalised touch. I wanted to create a space where clients could receive tailored treatments that address their unique concerns, all while feeling pampered and cared for. Our ethos is beauty with integrity—providing honest, transparent advice and treatments that truly benefit our clients. This vision, coupled with my love for aesthetics and wellness, drove me to establish the clinic.
Tell us about your career and background.
I am a Registered Nurse in Aesthetic Medicine and have spent the last 17 years honing my skills and experience in this specialty. My journey began in the UK, where I trained as a Registered Nurse specialising in adult care. I then completed a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies from Bournemouth University. Almost 18 years ago, I moved to Australia and transitioned from an acute care nurse to working in plastic surgery and aesthetics. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working for some of the most renowned cosmetic clinics and plastic surgeons in Australia. This diverse experience has provided me with a deep understanding of skin health, aesthetic procedures, and patient care, all of which I bring to my own clinic.
Describe a typical work day for you.
As a mother of two boys, my day starts early with getting them ready for school. After that, I fit in a Pilates Reformer session to energise myself before heading to the clinic. Each day at the clinic is dynamic and fulfilling, with a variety of appointments ranging from initial consultations to follow-up treatments and advanced procedures. I spend a significant amount of time with my clients, discussing their concerns, developing customised treatment plans, and performing the treatments. In between appointments, I manage clinic operations, including staff training, inventory management, and staying updated on the latest industry trends and technologies. Despite the busy schedule, I always make time for a little self-care, ensuring I stay balanced and energised.
What advice do you have for those wanting to start a business?
For anyone looking to start a business, my biggest piece of advice is to be passionate about your venture and stay committed to your vision. The journey will have its challenges, but your passion will drive you forward. It’s also crucial to thoroughly research your market and understand your target audience. Build a strong network of mentors, peers, and advisors who can offer guidance and support. Be prepared to invest time and effort into continuous learning and adapting to new trends. Lastly, never underestimate the power of excellent customer service—building genuine relationships with your clients can set your business apart and foster long-term success.
