A new maker’s space for young teenagers (10-15 years) has opened at Scienceworks called Test Lab and it’s only open for a limited time.
Scienceworks is aiming to inspire the next generation of inventors through STEM hands-on learning and tinkering with its new limited time experience – Test Lab.
Ever wanted to pull something apart to see how it works? Why not bring your ideas into Test Lab and try them out. Test Lab is a new maker space for 10-15 year olds to try out new skills and be inspired by the work of local makers, artists and inventors. Test Lab includes a workshop space and open-play and construction area.
There are two opportunities to visit Test Lab and get tinkering. Test Lab is open after hours on Thursday nights for a Thursday Makers Club from 4.30-6pm and over the weekends, where cool local artists will run workshops.
Thursday Makers Club, on every Thursday until September 15th, focuses on a different activity each week including building, programming and robotics. Kicking off on Thursday July 21st, young teens can make their own wearable circuits. There is more information about the upcoming workshops on their website.
During Weekend Workshops, they invite a different local inventor or artist to Test Lab each weekend. The artists runs a workshop, during which they create something new and cool, from an art installation, to a working padlock, or woven toys.
Bookings for both Thursday Makers Club and Weekend Workshops are essential.
