Cadbury Dairy Milk continues its vision to multiply the joy, releasing initial findings from its Joy Report research project designed to understand what really brings people across the country joy – did you know that dogs bring Australians the most joy, cricket is our most joyful National sport and hitting the beach and shopping top our list of joyful activities? This week also marks the beginning of a new Cadbury Dairy Milk promotion in which six lucky people can win what brings them joy, made out of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate.
The competition gives Australians the opportunity to pop a virtual balloon on the Joyville website and find out if they have won one of 42,000 instant prizes or if they are one of the lucky six people who will see their own personal idea of joy brought to life in chocolate!
For the first time in Australia, generous-sized chocolate sculptures will be delivered to the winners in a unique celebration of joy. Not only will the chocolate creation be delivered by Joyville workers, it will also be transported in the wacky Joymobile, complete with a playful moustache and purple and white candy stripes. Crafted with love in Joyville, the chocolate works of art will be plenty to share with family, friends and neighbours, bringing joy to an entire household or neighbourhood.
The promotion is the next chapter in the exciting Joyville story, and the first appearance by Joyville in the real world since the magical Joyville steam train took Sydney by surprise in June last year.
Ben Wicks, General Manager Marketing Chocolate for Cadbury Dairy Milk, said “Joy is at the very heart of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate and everything we do. This promotion builds on our promise to deliver genuine moments of joy to our customers and we are very excited to see what these chocolate creations will be.”
“It will be wonderful to see the sheer surprise and delight on people’s faces as the Joymobile pulls up at their doorstep. You never know what might come out of its doors; it could be a Joyville jockey delivering a huge chocolate horse or a Joyville band with a giant chocolate trumpet – you just never know, but that’s what makes it exciting,” he said.
In addition to six people winning the ultimate chocolate lovers dream, 1,000 200g blocks of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate will be given away every day for 42 days.
The launch of the Joyville Special Delivery competition also coincides with the release of the first findings from Cadbury Dairy Milk’s Joy Report, an ongoing research initiative that will run throughout 2013, tracking what brings Australians joy at key times of the year.
The first results from a recent Newspoll Survey of 1,218 Australian residents aged 18-64 sought to discover what moments, activities and pastimes bring the most joy. Some interesting National and local results were discovered, including:
- Overall, Australians said they get the most joy from their family, with a whopping 60% of respondents saying family brings them joy.
- The moments that bring the most joy are also those that are shared with family for over 45% of respondents.
- The most joyful activity for Australians is hitting the beach with over 46% of respondents ranking this as their most joyful pastime – no surprises there! Interestingly, shopping came in a close second with 36% of respondents saying retail therapy brings them joy – maybe the GFC hasn’t hit so hard after all? Victorians also get the most joy from going to the beach (48%), followed closely by shopping (37%) and getting a coffee from a café (34%) or having breakfast at a café (31%) – guess the great shopping and café-lifestyle really does bring Victorians joy after all! Dogs were ranked as the animal that brings the most joy for over 65% of Australians. Sorry cat-lovers, our feline friends ranked a distant second with only 33% of respondents saying they get joy from cats. Victorian respondents found the most joy in dogs (70%), followed by cats (34%) and birds (21%).
- 22% of Australians ranked cricket as their most joyful sport, the highest overall, closely followed by swimming (21%) and AFL (21%). No surprises to see AFL topping the list of most joyful sports in Victoria (37%), followed by cricket (24%), swimming (19%) and soccer coming in a close fourth at (16%).
Ben Wicks, General Manager Marketing Chocolate for Cadbury Dairy Milk, said “Cadbury Dairy Milk is a brand that is dedicated to bringing more joy to people’s lives. As part of our focus on multiplying the joy for all Australians, we seek to understand what brings them joy – because joy is such a personal thing, it is different for everyone. The purpose of our Joy Report research initiative is to understand the different forms that joy takes for different people so we can help share and spread more joy in the world,” he said.
On Wednesday, local Ballarat North resident Naomi Newton hosted a BBQ at home for friends, family and neighbours – but unlike any other typical summer Barby, this one was served from a BBQ made entirely from chocolate, complete with a chocolate grill and chocolate chops!
Standing 1.2m tall, this life-sized chocolate BBQ is the first of its kind to be created in Australia.
Naomi was the first winner in an Australian-first Cadbury Dairy Milk Joyville promotion where six lucky people win a special delivery experience including a giant chocolate sculpture of what brings them joy. In Naomi’s case, joy comes in the form of “get togethers with family and friends”, so she was absolutely surprised and delighted when the Joyville workers and marching band rolled up in the wacky Joymobile to deliver the surprise giant chocolate BBQ for a one-of-a-kind celebration.
And yesterday, Local Bowral resident Kathy Krawshaw received a brilliant surprise when Joyville workers rolled up to her house in their wacky purple Joymobile and delivered a giant chocolate sewing machine in a unique procession complete with a colourful, live fashion parade and DJ for a one-of-a-kind celebration. Over 100 of Kathy’s family, friends and neighbours were gathered around to witness the special delivery and share the joy.
Kathy is the second winner in an Australian-first Cadbury Dairy Milk Joyville promotion where six lucky people win a special delivery experience including a giant chocolate sculpture of what brings them joy. Kathy’s answer was that sewing brings her the most joy.
Made completely from Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate, this larger-than-life-sized sewing machine (over 1m tall) is the first of its kind created in Australia.
