Christmas is not that far off and as a parent, you want to be as prepared as possible. You might have everything under control with the home side of things but what about your kid’s school stuff? Brace yourself, it looks like Christmas time at school is just ahead too.
Sewing machine at the ready
During the Christmas season, there are plenty of different plays that require clothes to be made for the kids. Hey, you didn’t think that the woolly sheep appeared from nowhere? All of these costumes need to be made by the parents. As nice as it might be to have your kids in a play, you might have to make their costumes for them. If you are not great with the sewing machine, you might need to tag grandma in for this one.
Christmas cards
If there is something that you need to know about Christmas cards in school, they are about more than Christmas cheer, it’s about being popular too. One of the best things you can do for your own sanity is to grab some Bulk Christmas Cards that can be filled in at the beginning of December to be dished out. One thing that you can do is ask your kids’ teacher if you can have a class list so that nobody gets left out.
Teacher gifts
They act surprised but we all know that teachers love that their students give them presents for Christmas. Their mug collection must be extensive. The question is, what to get them as a present. Alcohol is probably one of the top options that you can choose, maybe even a small bubble bath gift set. The thing is to try and think of something original. Every year they probably get five or six “best teacher” mugs. Maybe we should be on the lookout for a “sorry my child is the reason you drink” wine glass instead.
Random Christmas events
You may have prepared for the Nativity play, you have sent extra money in for school Christmas dinner, and you have dished a card out to everyone in school. But you still have the random Christmas events to deal with. These are always random and are hard to predict. They can be anything from a last-minute booking to see a panto, to singing at the local nursing home. There is no telling what will pop up on your calendar.
Santa
There is a good chance that Santa will come and visit the school at some point, hopefully on the last day. There will be a present that they will want to open RIGHT NOW instead of putting it under the tree. They will be excited beyond words that The Big Guy will be appearing soon, and will climb the walls in excitement. The Santa visit is not a bad thing, it is amazing to see them all looking in wonder at the school caretaker dressed up as Santa, believing with every bit of their being that this is the real one. And we wouldn’t change that for the world.
