There are days when you have feelings of inadequacy, have depressing thoughts, filled with the urge to quit, the voices in your head keep making you think crazy ideas, and ultimately, you do not feel happy.
Most times, you may have a source for this mental health state or not, but all that matters at that moment is how to overcome that state of mind. However, in case you cannot do it alone, here are ways to look for help.
Talk to Your Doctor
In the same way that you talk to your doctor or general practitioner about how your body system functions when you are ill, you can also speak to them about your mental health state. They are trained for that too.
The doctor will be available to give you a listening ear. It is common practice to let patients with mental health issues talk it out. It helps the GP get a proper diagnosis, know the medications to prescribe for the patient, or refer you to specialists in psychology or psychiatry if they think you need more specialised help to handle your mental health.
Book an Appointment With a Therapist
There is virtually a therapist’s office in every part of the county or state. You could quickly check them out online using location services to search for a therapist or counsellor around your area. Also, you can contact a doctor to recommend a therapist that you can consult. Narcissism can effect all aspects of your life, therefore it is appropriate to see a therapist.
Visit A Treatment Centre
When you’re having mental issues, find help. You can do so by finding a treatment centre dedicated to treating severe mental health issues, including grief, trauma, and PTSD. However, before you can visit these centres you may have been recommended by a doctor, therapist, or counsellor to seek professional help.
These treatment centres are certified mental health hospitals with professionals that can help you navigate your mental health struggles.
Use Online and Offline Helplines
There is a working belief that you feel safe sharing your most profound hurt and feelings with total strangers. So call up a mental health hotline and speak to a trained agent. They will listen to you and recommend steps you can take to deal with the struggle. You can also contact online mental health support.
Join A Peer Support Group
In the journey to overcome mental health issues, there’s often a need for help. That is why you need to find a support group of people going through the same struggle as you and help each other navigate it by showing support and listening to each other. These support groups could be people within your learning environment, workplace, or community.
Reach Out to Family, Siblings, Friends, or Acquaintance
Sometimes, your closest allies may not know that you are dealing with these struggles until you let it all to them, share your fears and misgivings with your loved ones. But you cannot do this alone. You need your loved ones to hold your hands and fill you with love while fighting your depression, grief, trauma, or PTSD.
We want you to always remember that you are not alone in the struggle, so seek help, and ye shall find it in folds.
