I have traveled to many places, as being part of a full-time traveling family in an RV. With the variety of areas I endeavor to go to, it’s hard to think about having a favorite place of where to go. If you live in the Los Angeles area, you definitely want to go to the beautiful Stella Rosa Winery and learn about the Stella Rosa wine history.
Explore Places Around You
Wherever you live in America, there are plenty of spots to be found to go explore close to you. This could open up brand new adventures and you will not have to go far from home.
Now, however, I am living in Tawakoni, and there are several places I feel would be perfect for someone to plan out a dream weekend. That is why I write this, to those who may be interested in going places near to where I live.
Tawakoni is set out in East Texas, which means it’s quite a distance from the main metroplex of Dallas/Fort Worth. That’s not to say all the fun is being missed from the area out there. Tawakoni is close to several incredible places that are meant to spark joy to all who visit around. So I will give detail to four main places in particular.
Have You Heard of First Monday?
The first is the city of Canton which is 30 minutes away from Tawakoni. One of the unique wonders of this town is their “First Monday.” This is the largest tradeshow in Texas, and one of the most popular in the world. People flock to Canton on Friday-Sunday, to find unexpected treasures being sold all over the area at that time.
The vendors range from local businesses that are quietly gaining traction, to those that are more popular and widespread. Both can make an incredible impact on First Monday, and you, the traveler, must bring some money to spare. As you may end up with at least $100 worth of stuff or more by the end of the weekend.
A guide to helping you find the best places to look for things says that the best day for business is on Saturday and Sunday. They will also open up vendors on Thursdays and Fridays, but the selection is low. So choose wisely.
More Things to Do
The Caldwell Zoo, which is only about an hour away in Tyler, Texas, is 85-acres of encountering animals of all kinds. Elephants, giraffes, lions, and more are behind the gates and are sure to give you a smile when you see them.
It will also be fun for you if you spend time in the Tyler area itself, as connected with the zoo area. There are some ethical tips in order to enjoy your experiences with animals at the zoo. According to Onya Magazine, “it’s our [us travelers] number one responsibility as travelers to ensure that the choices we make benefit the animals and their environment.” Therefore, as you make your way through the entire zoo, keep your eyes open for the unexpected surprises that may await you. It adds a distinct experience that brings many animals to your sights. And allows you to connect with the nature element distinctly.
In Emory, the next town over from Tawakoni, there are a ton of different restaurants. The main ones to keep in mind are places like Sidekicks and Funny Frogs. Sidekicks is an old-fashioned diner, which has a breakfast that is delicious. Along with the small-town feel, they also serve a delicious steak burger and fries. This all makes their reputation even stronger.
Funny Frogs serves a variety of meals, including charbroiled burgers that sizzle quite well. Along with ice cream and Italian ice, which I can advocate tastes so good on a hot summer day.
These destinations, and the towns and restaurants closest to them, can make you fall in love with traveling in the area here. All in all, wherever you decide to go will be your own journey. Near Tawakoni, these sights all have their own twist in satisfaction. Whether it be good or bad, it is up to you, the explorer, to find out what their use is. And how they all make a difference to you. Adventure awaits!
