The Academy Awards, now known as the Oscars, tend to reward the actors and actresses for their top-notch performances, while on the other hand, the Golden Raspberry Awards, also known as the Razzies, reward the worst performances, and in return cause major headaches for PR honchos in Hollywood. Now, Bingofind.com has put together a list of performers that you are most likely to see in good and bad movies, respectively.
The methodology behind the compilation was pretty straightforward. A list of the 881 most bankable actors was taken from Box Office Mojo, but they excluded the actors that have appeared in less than ten movies, have not been on the big screen in the last five years and everyone who has passed away. Additionally, they looked at the reviews each of these actors received from Metacritic, namely positive, mixed, or negative, as well as the average score their films have received from film critics. Based on these criteria, the list was compiled with some amazing findings.
Bad Actors List
At the top of the list of the actors we are most likely to see in a bad movie we have Rob Schneider. The actor has appeared in several successful movies, including comedies Grown Ups, Big Daddy and The Waterboy, but always in a supporting role. Unfortunately, he has appeared in a number of flops throughout the years, Grandma’s Boy, Norm of the North and Knock Off, to name but a few. Freddie Prinze Jr. and Marlon Wayans are in the top five, but we were surprised to see Adam Sandler at number five. The actor has appeared in several comedies that did exceptionally well at the box office, including Mr. Deeds, The Longest Yard and Anger Management, while he also voiced Dracula in the animated trilogy Hotel Transylvania. Finally, the top five actors failed to connect with critics, with each one of them getting at least 56% in terms of negative reviews.
But this just goes to show that there is no correlation between box office receipts and how people feel about movies and actors after they have exited from the movie theatres.
Actresses on the Bad Movie List
The number one spot is occupied by Hillary Duff with a negative score of 69%, followed by the likes of Courteney Cox, Bella Thorne, Jessica Alba and Ali Larter. Out of these ladies, only Courteney Cox and Jessica Alba receive any positive feedback, 8% and 4% respectively. While Courteney Cox became famous as Monica Geller in the American sitcom Friends, she has appeared in a few successful movies. She has a leading role in all four Scream movies and a supporting one in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective opposite Jim Carrey.
Do not Dwell on the Negatives!
The people who generated the report also took the time to put together a list of the actors and actresses you are most likely to see in great movies. You should expect to see Academy Award winners Daniel Day-Lewis and Tilda Swinton and BAFTA winners Andy Serkis and Carey Mulligan.
