There really is nothing worse than thinking you are healthy when in reality, you’re not. If you want to make a change then this is very easy to do and if you follow the below tips, you’ll soon find that you can feel better in yourself while also being more aware of your body.
Going Grey Before You Hit 40
Premature greying can have a medical cause. If most of your hair is grey before you hit 40 then you should think about getting checked out for diabetes. This sounds extreme but it could indicate an underlying problem that needs to be dealt with. Having regular check-ups is never a bad thing either, so ring your doctor and see if they can offer you some help and advice.
Rough Spots
If you have blemishes or even keratoses then you’ll be glad to know that these are usually benign. Solar keratoses however tend to be triggered by sun damage, and they could be an early warning sign for skin cancer.
Short Eyebrows
You may style your eyebrows, and this is great, but if you feel as though you are constantly losing hair from the outer edges then this could be a sign that you have an underactive thyroid. If you think that this may be the case, you need to look out for thinning hair on your head too. There are treatments available for you to try and combat this and you would be surprised at how effective some of them are. That being said, you do have to make sure that you treat the underlying problem as soon as you can.
Constant Tiredness
If you feel as though you are constantly fighting for energy, then this could be a sign that you have anaemia. You may even find that you have depression too. One way for you to try and combat this would be for you to take some iron tablets. When you do, you should see an improvement in around 3-4 weeks. Sometimes it is possible to see an improvement sooner, but you should wait this long before you rule out any potential health problems.
Eyes That Aren’t White
If the whites of your eyes aren’t that white, this could indicate that you are hungover. If your eyes are yellowed, this could be a sign of Gilbert’s Syndrome. This is when bilirubin builds up in the blood and it gives you jaundice. If your eyes appear to have a pink tinge to them then this could indicate that you have conjunctivitis. If the problem persists then you may want to get tested for chlamydia.
Creased Ear Lobes
Creased ear lobes can indicate that you are more susceptible to heart problems. The main reason for this is because it shows that you have a lack of elasticity in the skin and this can even indicate a problem with your arteries too. Signs like this can increase with age, but if you feel as though you are experiencing this symptom at a young age then it may be worth chatting with your doctor to see if they can give you some support.
Flushing
Red cheeks often affect those who are aged between 30 and 55. Stress, spicy foods and even sun can make the blood vessels in your body dilate so you need to do everything you can to try and limit your exposure. If you have red eyes and flushed skin then this can be confused with lupus, but either way, if you’re not sure then chatting with your doctor is certainly the way to go.
Cracked Lips
Cracked lips or dry corners of the mouth can be caused by a shortage of vitamin B. You may also have a zinc deficiency too. If you have these cracks for a long period of time, then this can lead to fungal infections and this is the last thing that you need if you have a weak immune system.
Swollen Neck
If your glands become swollen overnight then this could indicate an underlying problem. If you have a goitre, then this could mean that you have an overactive thyroid or even that you have Graves’ disease. This is especially indicated if you are constantly losing weight without meaning to, so do keep that in mind where possible.
So there are many symptoms that you need to look out for, and when you do you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to stay healthy without having to worry.
