AirPods are undeniably iconic headphones. And yet, they’re not perfect. The device is famous both for its pros and cons. Among the main drawbacks of AirPods are their poor sound quality and unreliable fixation in the ear. Most likely, the number one drawback is the headphones fit. You may have already had at least one of these obsessions while using your AirPods.
The headphone will fall out and get lost.
Airpods may be insecure in the ears. First and second-generation headphones are earbuds. And without ear cushions, you can’t adjust them to your ear canal. Another drawback is that they don’t fit in every ear, so some users lose them instantly.
The scale of people’s problems and concerns was reflected by the artist Pablo Rochat from San Francisco. He crested AirPods stickers, scattered them around the city, and posted photos and videos with them on his Instagram. The story spread across media and social networks. The post with photos gathered more than 50 thousand likes, and videos had over 200 thousand views. There were hundreds of comments, too.
It’s hard to get rid of the fear of losing an earpiece. While wearing AirPods, you have to frequently check their presence and remember not to shake your head too much. You must have got scared a few times at the thought of losing your wireless headphones while walking past a storm drain, on the subway at rush hour, or taking your hat off. Who would like to lose such an expensive device!
The earpiece will break.
The cause is the same, the consequence is different. The AirPods are made of plastic, a light but fragile material. When dropped on a hard surface like tiles or marble, they are unlikely to remain intact. The earpiece may not be lost, but useless.
The charging case will lose its original look.
New AirPods with their snow-white glossy surface looks great. But over time, the charging case may lose its attractiveness due to scratches, abrasions, and dirt. Protective case covers seem a perfect way out. With a variety of colors, materials, and designs, they not only protect the device but make it look unique, for example, the leather AirPods case will make your headphones truly unique.
You won’t be able to hear the environment (for AirPods Pro with noise suppression).
The new generation AirPods feature is active noise reduction, which allows you to listen to music even in crowded places. However, noise-suppression makes it harder to react to different situations, so you will have to look around and double your attention to hear the external sounds.
Your conversation partner in AirPods can’t hear you.
AirPods users like to keep their headphones on while talking. Firstly, the first two generations transmit ambient sound well thanks to the type of headphones – earphones. There’s a whole reason for that. Secondly, it’s a complete accessory that adorns the user’s appearance. Thirdly, the headphones are lightweight and barely felt in the ear. Finally, Airpods users find it inconvenient or just lazy to take the headset out of their ears. However, the problem is different. The person you’re talking to may not know that your music is off. They may get the impression that you are not listening. If you don’t want to make people uncomfortable, take off the headset, or at least let them know that the music is off.
A high probability of loss is the downside of wireless headphones, so think about it before you buy the headset. Make sure they fit securely into your ear.
