Cosmetic injections have gained immense popularity over the last few years, and everyone loves them. So what if you weren’t born with the perfect face. Who’s stopping you from achieving one today? You can develop wrinkles around your lips for several reasons. These reasons may include smoking or applying makeup frequently. Even if you’re not doing any of those, it’s only natural that it happens with more years added to your age.
Lip fillers tighten the skin around your lips and make them appear fuller and plumper. Thankfully, they don’t even appear fake if you get them done through a reputable professional. However, as wonderful as lip fillers sound, they come with a great deal of aftercare responsibility. Here are the dos and don’ts of lip filler aftercare.
No Kissing
Aftercare shouldn’t last any longer than a day initially. Hence, avoid kissing during the first 24 hours after you get your lip fillers. Even slight pressure can displace the injected content into your lips. All the money that you spent will go down the drain if you do that. Be careful. Keep away from people and especially your partner.
Avoid The Gym
Undoubtedly, fitness is great, but what sounds even better is well-settled lip fillers. Doing strenuous exercise can elevate your blood pressure and tamper with your blood circulation. It’s not a very good idea to do that since your lips will get swollen. Exercising will only make it worse. Wait at least two days before hitting the gym again. For now, only light walks and jogging for a brief period should be your exercise, that too only if it’s necessary.
Avoid Blood Thinning Medication And Alcohol

Keep the Temperature Down
Do not take warm water baths, and avoid hot tubs and saunas for the first 48 hours after getting your lip fillers. If you’re not used to taking cold water showers, lukewarm will also do. Keeping the treated area clean and cool should be your top priority. We recommend you use ice around the area to decrease swelling and relieve itching. Don’t apply the ice directly to your face. Wrap a cloth around it to keep the temperature under control.
Quit Smoking (for now)
Quit Smoking for a day or two, at least after freshly getting your lips done. The warmth and smoke from the cigarette may increase swelling, and the nicotine is likely to cause an infection in the already vulnerable treated area. Quitting Smoking will do you no good if you plan to sit around smokers. Lastly, Smoking won’t just destroy your lip filler, but it will also damage your skin.
Say No To Lipsticks
Putting some lip balm on might seem harmless, it will also seem like a good option then, but it’s not. Avoid any lipsticks, lip glosses, lip balms, tints on and around your lips. No matter how natural the product is, it’s best to keep it away from your lips for a day or an entire week if need be.
Be Careful
No one can go around a whole week without washing their face. After getting your lip fillers done, use a gentle cleanser and be super careful around the treated area. Do NOT use a lip scrub until your lips have healed completely. Ensure that your cleaning products do not contain any rough exfoliating agents. Moreover, avoid using a strong perfume around your neck for a while since it may sting the treated area. Drink Lots Of Water
Want clearer skin? Drink water. Crave a toned-down body? Drink more water. Need healing from lip fillers? Drink all the water you can. Drawing moisture towards the treated area will make it heal faster and seamlessly. Drink by using cups or glasses. Straws will only add extra pressure on your already strained lips. Avoid spicy foods for a while. Do not order foods that are difficult to eat and require moving your lips a lot. Keep your diet light but full of nutrition.
Do Not Fly For At Least A Week
Flying might seem harmless, but it isn’t if your lips haven’t healed properly. The pressure in the aircraft can worsen the swelling and bruise around your lips. Flying also dehydrates your body which will slow down your healing process. Plan vacations and other events a week after you get your lip filler treatment. Precaution is always better than cure.

Since your treated area will be swollen and bruised at the start, you’ll need to take extra care of it. Avoid exercising and only go for a walk if you must.
