We may not be able to have the summer we thought this year, but that doesn’t mean we have to compromise on looking and feeling good. We take a look at the top 10 eyelash trends to try this summer to show off at (a socially distant!) any event! If you’re looking for good eyelash products to try for natural eyelash growth, make sure to check out NULASTIN.
1. Bedazzled Eyes
This can be achieved by sticking gems on your eyes yourself or finding some fabulous eyelash strips that already have them applied or even sticking them on the strip lashes yourself!
This was first popularised by Euphoria and is definitely a trend to stay. There are no limits to colour, shape or even style. Use sparkly gems, imitation pearls or anything that takes your fancy.
Fix these to your lash line, corners of your eye or under or over the brow line. If you’re hesitant, just start with one or two for a subtle look at build up. Why not go that little big extra and use a contrasting colour to your hair and run these along your hairline.
Perfect for pool parties or just wanting to look great next time you run out to the shops!
2. Pastel Eyeliner
Or pastel everything! Pinks are partially on-tren this coming season. A simple line along the upper lid, mixed with a pastel lilac or blue mascara is incredibly striking, yet still subdued enough for a day look too!
Every makeup lover’s Instagram feed is filling up with this look and the best thing about it is, it doesn’t take an expert hand or hours of work to achieve this look.
3. Watercolour Makeup
2020 is all about colour and this can be interpreted in so many ways. Watercolor makeup is an absolute favorite on the catwalk this season.
It’s a soft, playful look that gives off an ethereal mood. Choose a ‘watercolour’ shade that compliments your skin tone and go to town, this isn’t just for the lids, the under eye and corners are just as important.
You don’t have to stick to just one colour either, with the right blend, you can choose as many as you like.
Leave lashes natural and add a light dusting of your eye shadow to the tips to offset the entire look.
4. Floating Eyeliner
This is a great one for those who struggle to get that perfect line across the top of your own natural lashes.
Floating eyeliner is the hottest trend with celebrities this year. Take an eyeliner of any colour, although we recommend something bright, preferably neon, and sweep it across the crease of your eyelid.
Team with lengthy eyelashes of the same colour and you’re right on trend for this summer.
5. Neons
Speaking of neon, this doesn’t just stop at eyeliner.
Neon eyeshadow is back this year and this time, makeup artists haven’t been making the same mistakes that were made in the 80’s.
Neon colours aren’t exactly famous for being subtle, but this is the idea of this trend. Use a nude on your lid and crease, then sweep a neon shade just in the corners.Use the outer corner for a more modest look or choose the inner corner for a dazzling nighttime look.
6. Bright Mascara
Colored mascara has begun to hit our shelves again and we won’t know if our inner 14-year-old selves are delighted at grimacing at that early 2000’s trend.
However, done right, this looks incredible! Pinks and purple are one of the most incredible eyelash styles you can try this year.
However, if you don’t feel quite brave enough to try them yet, opt for a blue or green (especially if that matches your eye colour), these have a toned down shade from afar and simply pick up a bit of colour in bright lights.
7. Glossy Eyes
Gloss is not longer just for your lips! This is the easiest trend to try and takes just a few seconds.
Apply your eyeshadow as you would normally (although if you’re really wanting that 90’s look, try pinks and purples, think retro Barbie!) and add a few dots of clear lip gloss and sweep over the top.
Finish the look with a lip gloss of your choice.
8. Animal Print Eyeshadow
This one may be a little time consuming, but trust us, it’s worth it!
Time to channel your inner Carole Baskin and give that cat print a whirl, cheetah, tiger or leopard, whichever you’d prefer!
You’re not restricted to natural fur colours either, purple, green, blue, whatever you want.
Choose a base colour and then carefully paint your spots or stripes, liquid eyeliner is a good choice, especially if you use one with a particularly fine tip.
9. Mix It Up
Who ever said our eyes should be matching? It’s time to mix and match everything, while still complimenting everything.
Choosing two contrasting colours of eyeshadow and mascara is a great way of doing this. Make sure the colours do contrast otherwise this look can end up looking like a mistake rather than a deliberate mismatch.
Blue and orange have been popping up all over the makeup world this season, choose alternating mascara to really set it off.
10. Smokey Red
Are you bored of the traditional smokey eye? We are too, it’s been the same for over a decade and it’s time for a change.
Ditch those blacks, greys and browns and choose some colour. Smokey red is all the rage, choose a ruby red for the base and lash line and blend with a maroon or a reddish brown.
Team with a volume set of strip lashes and you’re ready to take on the town!
