Rosalind and Nikila—two women on a mission to change the world—have just re-launched their much-anticipated podcast ‘Bad’ Behaviour. After a hugely successful first season, with 2500+ downloads in a few short months, the hit indie podcast invites listeners to new content exploring themes from the taboo to the everyday. Bi-weekly episodes include ‘The Sex Talk’: Why is Sex Literacy Important?.
Nikila, a poet and writer, is passionate about theatre and currently works at a feminist not-for-profit. Rosalind is a captivating performer and talented songwriter, penning deeply personal rock music with roots in Portuguese fado and American folk music.
We interviewed both creatives to find out more about ‘Bad’ Behaviour and their journey so far.
Tell us about ‘Bad’ Behaviour and what prompted you to want to change the world.
‘Bad’ behavior is a by-product of our 10-year friendship and shared rebellious spirit. With witty banter and debate, we probe into difficult topics and face up to our own shortcomings and triumphs, bringing listeners on a journey with us. Through interviews with incredible guests, the podcast elevates the stories of women and non-binary guests with the hope of creating a feminist space where we can make a lasting impact.
Why is the podcast aimed at women and non-binary listeners?
It’s aimed at women and non-binary listeners because now, more than ever, we need feminist spaces where we can celebrate the incredible achievements of women (and of course, to plot for revolution!)
What taboo questions do you cover and why is it important to openly talk about these themes?
We talk sex, activism, mental health, and everything between. As queer women, we wanted to openly talk about topics that would have been transformative for us growing up. In our first episode titled ‘The Sex Talk’, we dive into how important it is to effectively teach consent and include queer sex as part of sex education.
You (Nikila and Rosalind) share a 10-year friendship! That’s epic and I’m sure you have a huge archive of stories between you. What helps you to work so well as a team?
We actually talk about this on one of our Patreon bonus episodes; working with friends is so rewarding, but you have to establish boundaries right at the beginning, foster open communication and be responsive to feedback. We’re lucky that our talents complement each other so well and that we’re so passionate about what we do.
