Arts Centre Melbourne and the Australian Music Vault are back with Vault Sessions to give the spotlight to ARIA award-winning act The Teskey Brothers with Orchestra Victoria on 22 December.
After debuting in July, Vault Sessions will continue with a free stream showcasing Warrandyte’s favourite sons through Arts Centre Melbourne’s Together With You platform as well as via Facebook and Youtube.
This initiative is a continuation of Arts Centre Melbourne’s dedication to provide a paid platform for artists and the Australian Music Vault’s drive to support home-grown, Australian music.
“It’s great to have another edition of Vault Sessions coming to you in what has proven to be a very successful digital series,” said Australian Music Vault Curator, Carolyn Laffan.
“The Teskey Brothers and Orchestra Victoria are a fantastic fit for this series and we’re delighted to provide another performance opportunity for artists in what has been a very difficult year for the industry.”
The Teskey Brothers are a home grown talent and the Vault Sessions performance marks a big moment for the band – who like many others have had to cancel countless performances in 2020.
“Performing with Orchestra Victoria at Hamer Hall will be a bucket list moment for us. We can’t wait to get onstage and experience the power of an orchestra behind our songs,” says Josh Teskey.
Fresh from releasing ‘Dreaming Of A Christmas With You’ and ‘Highway Home For Christmas’, The Teskey Brothers will bring their raw, bluesy energy to this special festive season performance.
The band have come a very long way in a very short time. The four friends have seen a meteoric rise in popularity in the past 12 months, amassing a legion of fans world-wide with their timeless style and stunning live shows.
They have released two critically acclaimed studio albums, with the second receiving three ARIA awards and a Grammy nomination. Their live album, Live at The Forum released in 2020 reached the number one album position on the Australian charts and won the ARIA for Best Blues & Roots Album.
Onstage, The Teskey Brothers pull out all stops, conjuring a rare soulful energy and raw emotion. They’ve been crowd favourites at Bonnaroo, Fuji Rock, North Sea Jazz, Firefly, Bottlerock, Latitude and many others, not to mention selling out shows in Australia and internationally.
This work will be even more special with the collaboration of Orchestra Victoria, one of Australia’s specialist opera and ballet orchestras. As the performance partner of The Australian Ballet, Opera Australia and Victorian Opera, they work with companies from across Australia and the world, delivering more than 200 performances each year. For this performance Orchestra Victoria will be conducted by Nicholas Buc, with arrangements by Jamie Messenger.
“We’re delighted to be collaborating with The Teskey Brothers as part of our welcome return to Arts Centre Melbourne this year. What better way to celebrate a return to performance in Victoria than to partner with such wonderful Melbourne artists,” says Orchestra Victoria Executive Director Sara Pheasant
“As opera and ballet specialists, Orchestra Victoria is dynamic and agile, and we are excited to perform with The Teskey Brothers and create a fabulous concert.”
Vault Sessions with The Teskey Brothers will be available for free from Tuesday 22 December at 10am (AEDT) on Facebook and YouTube.
