Experience music history in the making with the International Space Time Concerto Competition concert series in Newcastle on Friday 30 November and Sunday 2 December. Both concerts will also be streamed live online.
To celebrate this amazing display of musical innovation and sixty years of the Newcastle Conservatorium, music lovers will now be able to choose how they witness this unique event. Patrons can now view the event first-hand in the concert hall, via a live broadcast at a free twilight picnic to be held in Civic Park across both nights, or via the live Internet stream from: http://www.spacetimeconcerto.com
The stream will kick off at the same time as the concert series, 7:30PM AEST Friday 30 November and 6PM AEST Sunday 2 December. This is a fantastic opportunity for viewers across Australia to support the finalists from their state.
Limited tickets are still available for the concert hall where ticketholders will experience the ultimate in sound and visuals first-hand. The first concert will be an international live performance event. Audiences will witness an amazing showcase of the Networked Music Performance category finalists. The concert demonstrates cutting edge creativity, technology and global communication, as well as an incredible collection of international works demonstrating the future possibilities of the concerto form.
The second concert, to be held at the University of Newcastle’s Harold Lobb Concert Hall, will house the Historical and Innovation categories. This concert challenges traditional ideas of music by combining history and innovation with soloists performing alongside a symphonic orchestra.
The brainchild of the University of Newcastle Conservatorium of Music, the Space Time Concerto initiative is a creative collaboration with, the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore, Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, Waikato University in New Zealand and Ars Electronica / Bruckner University in Austria.
