MMW Busking at the Night Noodle Markets: They’ve basically selected the most talented buskers from around Melbourne, and paying them to play for the Noodle Market crowd! A really cool and clever concept. The MMW Busking Program is set to bring our city streets alive through a curated series of daily performances across the CBD. These buskers are awarded a paid programming slot and a busking permit valid for 12 months after MMW to kick-start their music careers, as well as a chance to perform on stage during MMW ’19. You can see the full line-up of performers here.
MSO at NGV: MSO Ensemble in Residence, PLEXUS weaves a program of works by contemporary Melbourne composers in response to the iconic Roger Kemp tapestries that adorn the walls of National Gallery of Victoria’s Great Hall. PLEXUS brings together the talents of three of Melbourne’s most vibrant and versatile musicians, Monica Curro (violin), Philip Arkinstall (clarinet), and Stefan Cassomenos (piano).

Music on the Melbourne Star: This is a first ever for the iconic Melbourne skyline piece. Melbourne Star Observation Wheel will be transformed into a rotating musical menagerie this Melbourne Music Week. Ten of Melbourne Star’s cabins will play host to a different MMW act, giving passengers a musical lucky dip as they board their flight. With acts ranging from acoustic singers, afro drums, rap and local DJs, each guest will enjoy a complimentary beverage to take on their two rotations, as well as music and drinks in the Melbourne Star Departure Lounge.
Bad Girls Disco X Roller Jam: ACMI will be transformed into a glitter-soaked underground discotheque for one night only at Melbourne Music Week. Live acts and DJs will take you on a journey through four decades of dance music, headlined by ARIA Hall of Fame-r Renee Geyer with support from Kylie Auldist, DJ JNETT and Chelsea Wilson. And if that wasn’t enough, Foreign Brothers will bring their unique brand of sass and jive, bumping in a roller skating rink at ACMI. Think spinning mirror balls, dance floor, big tunes and even bigger hair, as we celebrate Melbourne dance culture from 1975 – 2018.
