Fusing spectacular settings with the silver screen, Melbourne’s beloved Barefoot Cinema is back for the 2021 summer.
Recline in the breath-taking surrounds of Point Nepean in Portsea, The Briars in Mount Martha or the heritage-listed and majestic gardens of Ripponlea Estate as a sensational program of films lights up under the stars.
Launching Boxing Day, Barefoot Cinema will host 44 evening screenings with the program consisting of family-friendly favourites, musicals, comedies, and some of the best cult films of 2021.
Throughout the season, Barefoot Cinema will celebrate summer in quintessential Australian style by presenting themed surfing nights as well as Australia’s most heralded comedy on Australia Day. There will also be many opportunities for the perfect date night, including the perfect rom-com for Valentine’s Day to get the girls together or take that special someone out for an unforgettable night under the star-studded sky.
Offering so much more than just a movie, Barefoot Cinema invites you to relax, absorb the spectacular views and ambiance and experience a memorable summer evening complete with pre-show live music and tasty treats from the food trucks and candy bar. To add to the experience,”Barefooters” can even grab a cheese platter, featuring Carman’s delicious Super Seed & Grain Crackers.
There will also be delicious wine courtesy of Quealy Wines, beer by Gage Roads Brewery, and Aperol Spritz or cocktails at the Barefoot Bar. Bring a picnic blanket or bean bags and let yourself succumb to the serenity of the surrounds or, for those that like the finer things in life, upgrade to the Jalna VIP Lounge and really live it up!
Barefoot Cinema founder, Julian Grant, who grew up on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, said the 2018-2019 program had been carefully curated to ensure that everyone could enjoy the event.

With a number of cult-classics and music films included in the program, Barefoot Cinema offers an interactive element different to traditional movie theatre experiences, with visitors reciting lines of fan-favourites like Grease, Dirty Dancing and Pulp Fiction, and bursting into song with musical icons en-masse.
