Presented by South Yarra BMW, Gourmet Cinema brings food and film lovers together for a feast of the senses under the stars at Caulfield Racecourse.
If there are two things this summer has taught us, it’s that Melbourne simply can’t get enough of pop-up restaurants and outdoor cinemas.
In a sensory collaboration made for Melbourne, Gourmet Cinema presented by South Yarra BMW, returns after a sold-out run in 2016, with an extended season and a menu that reads like your ultimate restaurant bucket list.
With a restaurant line-up that boasts the who’s who of cool Melbourne eateries, including Tokyo Tina, Fonda, Meatmaiden, Kong, Saigon Sally, Baby Pizza, Horn Please, The Fish and Chippery by Atlantic and L’Hotel Gitan, each night paired with a cult or iconic film on the big screen, it’s the most Melbourne way to close out the summer season.
Each night across the two-week season, you’ll be spoilt for choice, with four restaurants serving up some of their menu favourites, and one hero restaurant delivering a menu that has been expertly matched to the feature film of the night. Think Tokyo Tina paired with Lost in Translation, Kong presenting Pulp Fiction and Saigon Sally screening Blade Runner.
In the second week, your liquid dinner dreams will come true with the Pimm’s Garden Party presenting Cocktail. With the restaurants changing from week one to week two, there will be no shame in returning for a second, third, or even fourth night.
The best part? With Deliveroo on board as delivery partner, there’ll be no need to line up at interval for your mid-feature nosh. You can skip the lines and order your food to be delivered direct to your picnic blanket, without having to leave your spot.
Sessions run nightly from 6:00pm between March 2 and 12 with movies starting at approx. 8pm. For the first time, two matinees, featuring Finding Dory and Happy Feet, will be held on opening weekend from 1pm.
