Coco and Max was established in Melbourne 2015, by Tessa Arnold (AUS) womenswear and Andrew Pope (UK) menswear. With over 15 years designing in the clubwear industry, their vision is to create a premium streetwear brand, that pushes boundaries aesthetically utilising sustainable local manufacturing.
Coco and Max are now launching their latest A/W collection as part of a multidisciplinary exhibition, ‘Future Chaos x Future Wild’, which blurs the line between art and fashion, showcasing the public the brand’s ethos of design, slow fashion and fair local trade.
Held at Brunswick Street Gallery, the exhibition will be divided into two sections, an installation of the two universes of light and dark, surreal pop x brutalist futurism.
The first Gallery will represent Coco’s side Future Chaos – A vibrant landscape playing with the unique in-house fabric prints. The viewers will experience the patterns coming to life through the space, consisting of 3D and 2D work – pink daisy disco balls and rainbow swirls, a sinuous stream of the butterfly effect – every petal can make a difference.
The second Gallery will be representing Max’s side Future Wild – A dark environment which captures the mood of the brutalist, geometric designs which underpin Max’s universe. It is a fantastical prediction of how the worlds of botany, anatomy and technology collide in our future.
Coco & Max are aware of the carbon footprints left on this planet, so every collection is manufactured ethically in the heart of Melbourne, to support slow fashion and fair local trade. Coco & Max embodies a free spirited philosophy, creating cutting edge designs, free from the shackles of mass marketed and trend influenced fast fashion giants.
“We want to encourage people to buy great quality pieces designed to last through every season, and believe that we should all embrace and be proud to be different, and express this through our clothing.
Every garment I design is to have multiple functionality, keeping up to date with the speed of living. All garments are made out of top notch sports fabric, to be worn from dawn till disco.
So wether you’re going for a 10k run, chasing your 2 year old around, or back from a festival, you’ll radiate standing out in comfort and style.”
