Nestled amongst the masses of Asian grocers and restaurants on Victoria Street; the major thoroughafare affectionately referred to as Melbourne’s Little Saigon, Minh Minh stands proud with a 20-year history serving up authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
Husband-wife duo Thien Le and Tien Phung run the family-owned business, taking the baton from Thien’s aunt and former owner. The restaurant is warm and inviting, with bright orange walls, a feature mural, and a touch of nostalgia with vintage Vietnamese posters, art and photographs.
There’s no mistaking the delightfully simple and fresh flavours Vietnamese food brings to the table, and Minh Minh nails it. The menu boasts an array of traditional Vietnamese dishes with an interesting modern twist, as well as versatile options for the Vegans, Vegetarians and Gluten-Free guests.
Although it’s difficult to cherry-pick from the impressive menu, some standout dishes include the Prawn Dumplings with ginger, sesame and sweet soy, the Crispy Quail and the Steamed Barramundi fillet with ginger, garlic onion and Chinese broccoli. Can’t decide? There are generous banquet options starting from $25 per person – perfect for large groups and ravenous diners/piglets (like myself). Oh, and did I mention it’s BYO booze? It doesn’t get much better than this!
