The runway took on a playful, youthful vibe that screamed summer to a chilly crowd at the Lunchtime Series in City Square yesterday.

Target presented their key looks for the season at their show ‘Beauty and the Beach’, including swimwear, leisure and sport wear, casual and cocktail wear. Onlookers were treated to a wide variety of looks set to upbeat pop, the perfect accompaniment to what was on offer.

The beauties were out in force parading the spring/summer gear, and we’re talking male beauties too – the topless walks to showcase swimwear trends did not go unappreciated by the females in the crowd.

The girls took to the stage to demonstrate and cement the trends; block brights, sheer and ruffled florals, khaki three-quarters, bright graphic prints, summery maxi dresses, lace, crochet, polka dots and classic nautical. All perfect for the upcoming summer and its associated events, and being Target, affordable.

There was plenty on offer for the boys today as four models paraded the key trends for men this spring/summer. Checks are most definitely a strong trend, and look fantastic when incorporated with the other dominant trend of brights. Greys, hot pinks, blues and yellows were some of the colours mixed and matched to create some checked shirts that were left open, or buttoned up. Printed tees in a myriad of colours were also featured heavily, perfect for a more casual look than a shirt.

As the models took their final walk, playfully dancing up the runway while clapping along with the crowd, one thing was certain – the on-trend pieces by Target are sure to satisfy budget-conscious fashionistas. There is literally something for everyone, no matter what look you are going for.
